THE EXTERNAL FILTER OPTION KIT
An external filter option kit is available for the Capstone MicroTurbineTM Model 330. The kit includes a manual shutoff valve, replaceable element filter,

adjustable regulator with gauge, and purge valve, all plumbed together and mounted in a corrosion resistant frame.
The primary function of the external filter option kit is to filter out particulates and regulate pressure of utility quality natural gas to the Capstone MicroTurbineTM. Although the filter has the capability of removing liquids, the intent is to remove particulates only. Liquid removal may require periodic maintenance and is not expected with utility quality natural gas.
The components are mounted on a frame with predrilled mounting holes to provide for mounting to various surfaces, horizontal or vertical. The frame provides protection during shipping and operation but allows adequate clearance for filter element service and regulator service and adjustments.
WARNING: When installing the option kit, particular attention must be focused on flow direction. Flow through the option kit is directional and must flow from the manually operated ball valve (inlet) toward the filter. If flow direction is reversed, damage to the MicroTurbine may result.
Natural Gas (Pressure 55 - 100 psig)
PRelief (if required)
The end connections are female 1⁄2" NPT. The purge valve, located at the tee fitting (kit outlet), is furnished for purging the fuel system to conduct maintenance and troubleshooting activities. The purge valve, a female 1⁄2" NPT manually operated ball valve, is outfitted with an AN 37° flare fitting and AN cap fastened to its outlet. The cap is provided to prevent unwanted venting of natural gas by inadvertently opening the valve.
If repositioning of the components is required, the regulator should be positioned such that the vent hole does not point upward unless vent piping is connected. The filter should be positioned such that bowl faces downward.
The maximum operating conditions are as follows:
Max Inlet Pressure: 100 psig
Maximum Operating Temperature: -20 to 150° F
For additional information, refer to the Installation and Start-up Manual.
