Intermittent Communication Loss Between Bays

Systems Affected

C1000 Series systems manufactured before July 2013 and experiencing random, intermittent communications loss between the C1000 Series controller and bay A JUCB.


Random, intermittent communication loss between C1000 Series controller and bay A JUCB may be caused by a combination of a defective coax cable connecting the C1000 controller and bay A JUCB, and excessive bend radius in the coax cable at the Ethernet-Coax Converter connection.

Required Action

For C1000 Series systems experiencing random, intermittent communication between the C1000 controller and Bay A JUCB:

• Consult the Capstone Advanced Power Server (APS) Model 145 and C1000 System Controller Troubleshooting Guide (430074). Refer to Basic Troubleshooting Procedures, Table 1, Item 1 and Table 2, Item 2 to determine the cause of the communication loss and possible corrective actions.

• If corrective actions outlined in the Troubleshooting Guide do not solve the problem, refer to Ethernet-Coax Converter Reposition and Coax Cable Replacement Work Instruction (440361).
