Service Notice SN0004

Safety Precautions

Only Capstone Authorized Serviced Providers should open the MicroTurbine and other equipment connected to the MicroTurbine. The systems can include multiple sources of power. Observe and adhere to the Safety Instructions contained within the MicroTurbine User’s Manual.

Summary

Model C30 Generator Terminal Block stud material was changed from brass to stainless steel on 04/26/01. This material change resulted in a requirement to increase torque from 20 inch-pounds to 35 inch-pounds on the 11/32-inch nut at the 3-phase connections for all affected units. The ground terminal torque requirement remains at 30 inch-pounds.

Capstone recommends that the new torque be verified on affected field units containing the stainless steel generator terminal blocks at the next regularly scheduled service interval due to the high voltage nature of the connection.

All units shipped prior to May 2001 that have the old generator terminal block with brass studs do not require retorquing to the new 35 inch-pound requirement.
