Design considerations are described for energy conversion systems forlow and intermediate temperature sensible heat sources such as found in geothermal, waste heat, and solar-thermal applications.

It is concluded that the most cost effective designs for the applications studied did not require the most efficient thermodynamic cycle, but that the efficiency of the energy conversion hardware can be a key factor.
